Eastern Tibet
The former regions of Amdo and Kham today comprise the Eastern Tibetan, a vast region known for pristine forests, high mountains and the source of many of Asia’s largest rivers. Amdo is popular for its friendly people and the great monasteries of Labrang and Kumbum. It is the birth place of the great Tsongkhapa. Kham is the home to the famous Khampa cavaliers and its woodstock and it houses the biggest printing house of the buddhist scriptures in Tibet along with some important monasteries.
